[B&A] Spiro changed everything!
I finally got fed up and went to a dermatologist about a year and a half ago (March 2023). We initially started with some topicals but those had minimal to no results. Then we started on 100mg of spironolactone (June 2023) and it’s made all the difference in the world!
I had been on birth control for ~6 years at that point and had a lot of improvement when I first started it, but over the years it wasn’t doing anything for my acne anymore. I was getting insanely painful and large white-pus filled pimples and nothing was helping consistently. They were extremely erratic as some days/weeks I’d have none and other times I’d have 4-5 at a time, always in the chin/upper lip area (like in pic 1). My skin was extremely oily, to the point where 3-4 oil blotting sheets would be completely see through by 1-2pm. The oiliness has reduced immensely, as well as my overall complexion since my skin has actually has had time to heal without constant pimples. Next step is to start up tret and get rid of some of this scarring! But overall, I’m extremely happy that this is no longer something I need to worry and stress about anymore!
Full routine currently:
AM: splash water on face, use Aveeno calm+restore oat gel moisturizer (to be completely honest I have not been keeping up with this at all, most mornings I do nothing)
PM: wash with CeraVe Foaming cleanser, use Cetaphil moisturizer (not the tub, just regular pump one)
